Constitutional Affairs Committee

This week the Committee met to discuss its report.

Meetings in Westminster This Week

I attended a lunch hosted by Conservative Friends of Israel where we had a question and answer session with the Ambassador.

I also met with the Industry and Parliament Trust, a registered charity dedicated to fostering mutual understanding between business and Parliament for the public benefit.

Tuesday was taken up with local media interviews in advance of the election of David Cameron as the new leader of the Conservative Party. I was at the Institute of Modern Art when the result was announced, which was in my view, a turning point in the history of our party.

Constituency Events This Week

On Monday this week I had a 6.30 start at Rugby Sorting Office, where I saw for myself how postmen and women in the area get Christmas sorted. I had a guided tour of the Office and chatted to staff before sorting some of my own cards. For further information go to http://www.jeremywright.co.uk/newsstory.php?newsid=72

On Thursday I was in the constituency all day catching up on correspondence and meeting constituents. In the evening I met representatives and Councillors to discuss Hilltop Caravan Park, in advance of a full meeting in the Town Hall on Friday morning

I also had meetings with the Conservative Group at Warwick District Council and with the Rugby and Coventry branch of the National Farmers Union.

Surgeries

This week I held my regular Friday evening surgery in Rugby and my Saturday morning surgery in Kenilworth.

On Saturday morning I was a guest on the BBC Politics Show to discuss knife crime and my involvement in the Committee that discussed the Violent Crime Reduction Bill.
